Linux Administrator

We are currently seeking a Linux Administrator with experience managing Linux systems. The position will include Linux sysadmin tasks such as provisioning servers, troubleshooting, performance tuning & monitoring. Additionally, the individual in this position will also be responsible for automating infrastructure at Rival. The position is in Chicago, IL.

  • Linux systems administration including server deployment, software and hardware installation, troubleshooting, automation, scripting, monitoring and tuning.
  • Monitoring processes on Internal / Customer servers.
  • Deploy updates and security patching for Linux servers and Windows desktops.
  • Implementing IT best practices to improve infrastructure.
  • Maintain disk-based backup systems.
  • Documentation and standardization of IT procedures and policies.


  • 5+ years of extensive experience administering Linux systems.
  • OS: Centos 6 & 7. Windows 10
  • Experience with server hardware and management tools, esp. IBM/Dell
  • OS provisioning: Kickstart/WDS
  • Configuration management utilities: Ansible would be highly desirable.
  • Ability to use / write API’s for infrastructure deployments.
  • Monitoring software: Nagios & Icinga.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins, AWS, SAN, Veeam, Git & Active Directory would be a plus.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts.
  • Scripting: Python, Bash & PowerShell would be desirable
  • Understand concepts of performance tuning in a low-latency environment.
  • Virtualization experience, especially with VMWare.
  • Some experience with HA server infrastructure using Nginx or HAproxy.
  • Good team player with strong documentation and procedure skills.
  • Flexibility in work schedule due to market-dictated maintenance windows and occasional off-hours support.
  • Ability to address both immediate needs and undertake long-term projects.

Sales Engineer

We are seeking a Sales Engineer to assist us with our growth and expansion.  This role will work directly in the Rival Sales team servicing prospects and will report directly to the EVP of Global Sales.  The position is located at Rival’s office in Chicago, Illinois.

  • Obtain comprehensive knowledge of Rival’s proprietary trading and risk applications
  • Provide support for scheduled in-person and/or phone meetings with prospects (remote or on-site)
  • Perform excellent product demos for Rival Trader and Rival Risk
  • Responsible for investigating and understanding prospects’ client software, hardware and networking needs
  • Strategize and assist Rival Sales members with opportunities and help draft proposals and RFP responses
  • Contribute to achieving the overall Rival Sales goals for customer acquisition and revenue on a monthly and annual basis
  • High daily utilization and data input into to maximize communication flow with Rival Sales and Executive management
  • Responsible in assisting the onboarding of new clients (if necessary)
  • Responsible for responding to all prospect requests with Rival Sales team in an expeditious manner
  • Represent Rival with high professional standard and deep preparation for meetings and events


  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Sales or as a Sales Engineer in a consultative sales environment within a technology company
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the trading industry
  • Knowledge of options trading, exchanges, clearing processes, networking and hardware/hosting within the trading industry
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills to perceive needs of others
  • Experience in large contract proposals and negotiations
  • Self-motivated to meet deadlines with proven track record of goals
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Fervent desire to document processes and procedures
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license
